THE NARRATIVE
EMANCIPATION & AUTONOMY
Emanating from the essence of valiant forebears and the lingering aroma of history, the Black & White Kufiya (also known as "Keffiyeh") persists as the most emblematic representation of Palestine's heritage and its current existence.
Embraced by individuals of various standings in Palestinian society, the kufiya evolved into an emblem of Palestinian nationalism during the 1930s Arab Revolt against the British Empire. This significance reached its zenith in 1938 when the leaders of the revolt mandated that residents of Palestinian cities replace their traditional tarbush hats with the kufiya. This strategic move aimed to foster national unity and enable Palestinian rebels to seamlessly merge into the urban populace.
